Blower Music Concert Poster

The Brief
Blower is a band that consist of 3 members, produce music by blowing across the mouth of glass bottles. Using this technique, R&B and Pop Rock music can be formed. As such, Blower portrayed as an avant-garde and modern musician band. Thus, I come up with a classy and contemporarily concept music concert poster.
Layout
Poster layout is based on 5.0 mm (top) x 3.0 mm (bottom) x 5.0 mm (both left and right) margins, with 2 columns. Both the margins and columns are the guideline for the objects and text to be proportionately aligned among the contents of the header, body and footer, which caters to the basic design principles of a poster.
Fonts Used
Header – BLOWER
I chose a Modern classifications typeface, Onyx typefont, that brings out the contemporary and exclusiveness of Blower characterictics. Blower is a band that stands out with its unique ability of producing music only from using glass bottles. Hence its only music is from bottles, they appear to be cool. Onyx font tend to look very structured and could be considered cool. Besides, modern fonts can look really eye-catching and very elegant at large sizes, which is suitable for headlines in modern music posters. Since a poster has to be readable within 3m and at a glance, this font typeface is perfectly suited to this requirement, which is the 3s principal that dictates the timeframe for a poster’s message to be captured and understood.
Tagline – Blow from the Bottles
As for the tagline, as suggested like the Header’s usage of the Onyx typeface above, Blow from the Bottles, I added a waveform to it to mimic a movement of a sound wave, which results from the music that is produced from a bottle.
Subheader, Information & Footer – The first band that produces music from glass bottles is performing live in Singapore, Date, Time & Venue, tickets and sponsorship information. I chose a san serifs typeface, which is the Helvetica typefont. Helvetica typefonts is crisp, clean and sharply legible, yet humanized by round, soft strokes. It delivers a message quickly and efficiently without imposing itself, and at the same time it project a dynamic and modern image, just like the band, Blower itself. This shared characteristics between Helvetica and the band, Blower, makes them highly compatible. And at the same time, Helvetica works well together with Onyx, as it brings out their contrasting outlook, and at the same time portraying the harmonous synergy among them, as they look good next to each other.
Black Bar
I used a black bar beneath the date, time and venue to give a form of visual separation of the header from the body of the poster. The black bar also symbolizes the platform of a stage where the band Blower performs on, as it acts like a platform for the header of the poster to stand on.
Images 3 Bottles Blower is a band that uses bottles as their musical instruments of choice. Each bottle represents a band member, and the distinct 3 shades of the bottles symbolized the individual band member’s distinct personality. When blown across the opening at its mouth, a bottle produces a distinct tune. With varying degrees of forceful blows, different tunes can be achieved. This technique is used by the band to create musical arrangements during their unique performance. Each band member focuses on producing a certain range of tune, complementing one another, creating music in a harmonious and tasteful manner. The bottles are the main image of the poster, easily recognizable and prominently in view of the readers. Musical notes coming out of the mouth of the each bottle creates interest in the reader’s mind as they’re left to ponder how it may actually sound. Also, there are only 3 distinct musical notes, where it’s one note per bottle, because a bottle can only produce one key at a time, unlike a guitar where its 6 strings can be strummed simultaneously to create a chord. The background image, which consists of multiple musical notes that are randomly placed in dynamic angles and sizes, conveys the message for the possibility for the multiple keys or notes that can be created from the bottle-blowing techniques. The opacity of these image is such that it is saturated around the bottles, while it fades away into a white background as it moves away from the bottles. Like sound that fades away into silence as it moves further away from you, the background image is created in such a manner to mildly suggest this flow of sound.
Color – Black text on white background.
Black and white gives a punchy, intense image that immediately translate to the readers, and solicit a strong and sometimes emotional reactions. It also potrayed a highly sophisticated and a sleek look that can be modern and minimalist.

Closet - Corporate Identity

Closet is a fashion business for the queer people. Closet is named after  'Coming out of the Closet', a figure of speech for the lesbians, bisexuals, gays and transgender. 'Coming out of the Closet' is described as a mean towards feeling gay pride, instead of feeling shame and social stigma, or even career suicide.
The Closet logo is made up of 3 components; -The Closet Visual Mark, The Closet Logotype, and
The Closet Descriptor.

Components :-

4 Hangers
Hanger is a shaped piece of wood, plastic, or metal with a hook at the top, from which clothes may be hung in order to keep them in shape and free of creases. It symbolizes clothing. Number (4) represents all types of queer, the lesbians, bisexuals, gays and transgenders.

Descriptor “Happy Fashion for Happy People”
Happy is an emotion or feeling that indicates pleasure, or joy. As such, it gives the general public the impression that the fashion is not only for one that is gay. This will widen the target audience. And contrary to popular beliefs, gay actually means happy and nothomosexuality.

Rainbow Colors
Color has long played an important role in the queer community’s expression of pride. The first rainbow flag was designed in 1978 by Gilbert Baker, a San Francisco artist, who created the flag in response to a local activist’s call for the need of a community symbol. Using the five-striped “Flag of the Race” as his inspiration, Baker designed a flag with 7 stripes: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. According to Baker, those colors representated sexuality, life, healing, sun, harmony and spirit respectively.

Typeface
Didot, one of the most widely used Modern typeface, is commonly found in luxury furnishing, watches, luxury cars and interior design magazines. It is so because of its characteristic, their substancial stems flowing into extremely thin hairlines, the serifs are straight across with virtually across with no bracketing, convey the contemporary, fashionable, lifestyle and avant garde impressions.
